The Jefferson Dragons took the field on Wednesday night under the lights in a make-up game, as they hosted the 5A Apalachee Wildcats. The Dragons dominated with pitching and offense as they took their second win of the season by a 9 to 1 score. #22 Micah Carpenter got the start on the hill and served up a dominating 5 inning performance recording 7 Ks, striking out the side in the 1st and 5th innings, with only 2 hits allowed including the Wildcats only run on a 2nd inning solo homer. #14 Asher Standridge came in relief to close out the game for the Dragons recording 3 Ks and allowing only 1 hit in 2 innings of work. Offensively, Jefferson was led by #20 Taylor Wilkes with a 3-for-5, 5 RBI performance including including a 2 RBI Triple in the 2nd that gave the Dragons the lead for good. #12 Zack Boobas knocked in #19 Christian Hutch in the 2nd with his first of 2 Doubles, to get the Dragons on the board and setting up the chance to the take the lead. Additional run support came off the bats of #7 Ethan Garner and #8 Hunter Thompson each with RBI Singles in the 5th. The Jefferson Dragons improved to a record of 2-1 on the season . They next travel to the Perfect Game Complex in Emerson on Saturday, 3/7, for a double header vs 2A Wesleyan and 4A Upson-Lee at the Perfect Game Spring Swing. Next week they'll kick-off their Region 8AAA schedule as they host Morgan County on Tuesday, 3/10 and then play a Double-Header at Morgan County on Friday, 3/13.
