JV - Jefferson (6) @ Jackson County (6) - 10 Inning Marathon

After two weeks of ice/rain delays The Jefferson Dragons JV Baseball Team finally took the field for their first game Saturday, 2/28 on the road against the Panthers of Jackson County.  The Dragons took advantage of the field time battling with the Panthers in a 10 inning marathon that resulted in tie at 6 runs a piece.  The Panthers took an early 2-0 lead after the first inning after some early pitching struggles, but the Dragons pulled back even in the 2nd after some fielding errors enabled 2 runs to score.  The Dragons then took the lead in the 3rd and eventually pulled to a 6-3 lead.  The Panthers clawed back and eventually tied the game in 7th sending the game to extra innings.  Key hits for Dragons included for #20 Justin Cole with 2 hits and an RBI, #5 Brandon Trefren, and #6 Kasan Rainey each with hits in the 5th.  Key pitchers including Trefren who went 2 2/3 innings with 4 K and 0 runs allowed, #16 Brandon Clinton going 2 2/3 innings with 1 K and 0 runs, who also gunned down a couple base stealing attempts from behind the plate, and #18 Will Wood who closed the game in the 10th with 2 Ks.  A wild way to start the season, but at least we're underway.

Will We Ever Get To Play

A quiet and mild winter, overall and with the start of the baseball season, now the weather just won't let up.  Seems like now what would be two weeks into the Dragons baseball season, we'd have some games in.  Just keep your fingers crossed in hopes the boys will be able to take to the field in the coming days.  In the mean time, hope everyone's recovered from last week's ice and stays warm through the next round.
